I named my company, Emerger Strategies, because in fly fishing, an emerger is a fly that imitates aquatic insects as they transform from underwater to above water’s surface; and similarly, we help companies transform from a take-make-waste business model to a circular economy model by measuring and improving the sustainability performance of our client’s operations, products, and packaging.
Through learning how to read a river, and what trout eat, I also gained an understanding of entomology, which is also crash course in systems-thinking. Systems-thinking is the understanding that everything is interconnected. So just as an emerger is connected to a feeding trout, which is connected to river ecosystem, so our are businesses and the planet.
