According to the IPCC we must halve global greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and be carbon neutral by 2050 to avoid the catastrophic effects of climate change. However, we are already seeing the effects of climate change. For example, Hoot Owl Restrictions in Montana and multiple stream closures across the American West due to low stream flows and high-water temperatures. We know that businesses must reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, and in an effort to protect what we love, Emerger Strategies is launching a series of Sustainable Business Workshops at lodges across the US and Caribbean. The first in the series is the Sustainability 101 Workshop, which is designed for businesses who know they need to address climate change, as well as improve their environmental performance, but don’t know where to begin. The workshop will be held at Tailwater Lodge in Altmar, New York November 1-5, 2021.
During the Sustainability 101 Workshop, Rick Crawford (our President) will lead the group through his proven steps to create a sustainability plan and strategies to execute that will improve your environmental performance and reduce your carbon footprint by introducing you to sustainable business planning and services from assessment to implementation including:
- Sustainability Assessment
- Collecting environmental baseline data
- Calculating Scope 1 & 2 greenhouse gas emissions (Carbon Footprint)
- Conducting a sustainability gap analysis
- Walk away with a Sustainability Plan to improve your environmental performance and reduce your carbon footprint

ABOUT TAILWATER LODGE
Tailwater Lodge is one of only two Orvis Endorsed Resorts in New York State, let our Orvis endorsed guides help create the trip of a lifetime. From September through November, anglers can try their hand at some of the largest freshwater game fish in the world. Our King Salmon range up to 30 pounds, with many fish pushing past 20 pounds. As the Kings and Cohos begin to spawn, our dime-bright steelhead begin to enter the river. These acrobatic fish bring anglers from all over the world trying to land one of these trophies. Our steelhead season lasts from October until late spring, when the fish drop back to the lake after spawning. Summer-run steelhead, also called Skamania, show up around June, and are most abundant after heavy rains. Come to the Tailwater Lodge. Go home with a fishing story you’ll tell again and again.
