If you have been paying attention the news lately, you know that the effects of climate change are being felt everywhere, but especially in our oceans. As an angler, I care deeply about the impact of climate change on all marine species and I founded my company to protect what I love. In fact, I just released a new episode of The Sustainable Angler where I interviewed Dr. Aaron Adams from Bonefish & Tarpon Trust and we dive into exactly who climate change effects my favorite flats species, such as tarpon, bonefish and redfish. So, what’s my point?
We know burning fossil fuels is the main driver of climate change. We also understand that we need policy and systems change in order to increase the scope and reflect the urgency of the climate crisis. In the meantime, and while we wait for politicians to “do the right thing” business owners must take matters into their own hands by agreeing to measure and reduce their carbon footprint’s. And guess what? When you conserve energy through efficiency, or if you choose to go solar, like Z-Man Fishing did, you are guaranteed to reduce your operational costs!
If you love fishing, and want to protect what you love, then your company can take action by measuring and reducing its carbon footprint because at this point, every ton of CO2 reduced actually matters, and our fisheries are at stake. Here’s a quick video I made on the topic, and please don’t hesitate to reach out if you’d like to learn more about Emerger Strategies’ Carbon Management Services:
