Conservation Hawk’s new film: “Convergence”

Posted on May 23, 2017

If you haven’t already, check out the new Conservation Hawks film “Convergence.”  It’s a beautiful film on how getting out on the river and fishing can change and influence people’s lives and also create memories that last a lifetime.  If you are an angler, then you have a responsibility to protect what you love.

Unfortunately, climate change is already negatively impacting our rivers and the fish that live within them.  Less snowpack causes less water to flow into the rivers and warmer water temperatures, all of which puts stress on trout.

What can you do?  Here’s a quick list of thing’s that can lessen your impact on climate change, and therefore, negative impacts on our rivers where you love to spend your time, and fish you love to catch:

  • Let your elected officials know that you support a low-carbon economy.
  • Consider the environmental and social impact of the products you buy.
  • Buy local and organic produce, or grow your own produce.
  • Compost to regenerate healthy soils and lessen the amount of waste being sent to the landfill.
  • Reduce, Reuse, Recycle & Repair
  • Have your local power company conduct an energy audit.
  • Install LED lights at your home and/or business.
  • If needed, increase the amount of insulation at your home/business.
  • Install a renewable energy system to lessen your utility bill and GHG emissions.
  • Install WaterSense shower heads and faucets to conserve water.

These are just a few tips to get you thinking about how you can minimize your impact on climate change, but these are all actionable items, which if every angler took would have a tremendous impact.
