Conservation Hawks Releases “In the Heart of the Rockies” Online

Posted on April 25, 2019

Rick Crawford

You are probably already familiar with Todd Tanner from Conservation Hawks through our interview with him on The Sustainable Angler, or more likely from his climate change and fly fishing related films: Cold Waters, Chrome and Convergence. I am stoked to share that Conservation Hawks latest film project, In the Heart of the Rockies, is now available online!

Below is a brief film synopsis provided by Conservation Hawks:

“In The Heart Of The Rockies focuses on the northern Rocky Mountains, from Yellowstone north towards Glacier National Park.  This incredible landscape is known far & wide for its mountains, rivers, wildlife and amazing natural beauty.  The film showcases this spectacular area through the eyes of sportsmen both young and old.  As we meet these iconic anglers & hunters, we’ll learn about their love for this incredible landscape and their concerns over our changing climate.

In The Heart Of The Rockies raises a number of important climate-related issues, including how drought, record high temperatures, extreme wildfires and smoke impact hunters and anglers, as well as fish & game.  As the story unfolds, the film illustrates how climate change is altering landscapes and changing the character of the northern Rockies.
The cast for In The Heart Of The Rockies includes:

  • Elk hunter Craig Mathews  (near West Yellowstone, MT)
  • Upland bird hunters Dave Perkins (Vice Chairman of Orvis), Nancy Mackinnon and Phoebe Bean  (Rocky Mountain Front, MT)
  • Ice fisherman Hal Herring, his son Harold and daughter Carol Ann (near Glacier National Park, MT)
  • Fly fishers Hilary Hutcheson and her daughters Ella and Delaney, as well as Todd Tanner and his son Kian.  (Henry’s Fork near Last Chance, ID)”

We are proud to support the good work of Conservation Hawks and are grateful for the work Todd Tanner is doing to shed light on the impact of climate change is having on the lands and waters hunters and anglers love so dearly. Click below to watch In the Heart of the Rockies:
