ACTION ALERT: Have you taken the Trout Unlimited Climate Change Survey?

Posted on May 22, 2020

Rick Crawford

As an angler, I am deeply concerned about the impact climate change is already having on our cold-water fisheries, such as: warmer water temperatures, more severe & frequent drought, less snowpack and more wildfires. Not to mention the impact of climate change on our saltwater species such as: warmer ocean temperatures, ocean acidification and sea level rise to name a few. But these are no longer hypotheticals, these threats exist today. In fact, we are already seeing the effects of climate change here in the Lowcountry of Charleston, SC in the form of sea level rise and year after year there are record-breaking number of days where Charleston floods. If our elected officials, businesses and even individuals don’t take immediate action, we our beloved fisheries will disappear.

One way to take action today is by taking the Trout Unlimited Climate Change survey. The data collected during this survey will provide valuable insights that can help drive better climate policy as well send signals to businesses that their customers care about taking action on climate. Below is from Trout Unlimited:

Anglers and conservationists across America, regardless of their affiliation with TroutUnlimited, are invited to participate in TU’s new climate change survey.

The purpose of the survey, crafted by TU’s National Leadership Council workgroup on climate change awareness, is to gather information from America’s anglers and conservationists that might help TU better direct its efforts to address climate change and its impacts on coldwater fish, like trout and salmon, as well as its impacts to fish habitat.

Every perspective is valuable when it comes to how TU continues to work in the climate change arena. The organization wants to hear from all who are interested in the topic, and how they see TU’s role in addressing climate change today and well into the future.

Take the survey and tell TU what you think. There are no wrong answers — TU wants your unfiltered perspective on this important topic.

From Trout Unlimited

As anglers, let’s do our part by completing the Trout Unlimited Climate Change Survey so that we can protect the sport and fish that we love for today and for future generations!
