Posted on August 10, 2020

Rick Crawford

In this episode of The Sustainable Angler, I inerview Wil Flack of BelizeFly and we talk about everything from catching the travel bug and how Wil sailed all over the world; environmental threats to our fisheries such as climate change, plastic pollution, and in Belize, gill nets; and also some success stories such as how the country of Belize has banned single-use plastics, are working on banning gill nets and has designated bonefish, tarpon and permit as catch-and-release only. We also chat about how mangroves provide natural climate solutions and about some of the sustainability initiatives Wil has executed at his lodge and shop. Hope you enjoy!

Below are some links worth checking out that we discuss in the podcast:

  • Belize Gill Net Ban
  • 500 Million Plastic Straws Per Day
  • Blue Carbon Initiative
  • One Tree Planted
  • Yellow Dog Community & Conservation Fund (YDCCF)

Special thanks to Wil Flack for taking some time out for an interview for this episode of The Sustainable Angler podcast, which is available on iTunes, Soundcloud, Spotify, iHeartRadio, or wherever you listen to podcasts.
