Emerger Strategies Proudly Supports Low-carbon USA

Posted on December 20, 2016

Did you know that China and the US are the two biggest emitters of greenhouse gasses?  According to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC)  China is responsible for 20.09% and the United States is responsible for 17.89%.  Did you also know that China and the United States signed the Paris Agreement?

“The Paris Agreement’s central aim is to strengthen the global response to the threat of climate change by keeping a global temperature rise this century well below 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels and to pursue efforts to limit the temperature increase even further to 1.5 degrees Celsius.” – UNFCC

Because the US has signed the Paris Agreement, it puts pressure on other nations to get in line and provides the US with an opportunity to demonstrate its leadership and grow its own economy with renewable energy job creation.

“Implementing the Paris Agreement will enable and encourage businesses and investors to turn the billions of dollars in existing low-carbon investments into the trillions of dollars the world needs to bring clean energy and prosperity to all.” – www.LowCarbonUSA.org

However, signing the historic Paris Climate Agreement is not enough.  It requires action, which is why we are proud to be a business that backs a low-carbon USA, alongside Patagonia, The North Face, Columbia Sportswear Company and many others.
