Businesses Unite to Defend Public Lands
America’s public lands are at risk of being sold, defunded, or developed, and that’s why Emerger Strategies is proud to join 60+ businesses to send a powerful message to our lawmakers: protecting our public lands is critical to individuals, communities and businesses across the country. The Conservation Alliance is taking a leadership role in the formation and organization of the new business coalition, Brands for Public Lands, and partnering with other nonprofits and businesses alike in order to build their movement of businesses defending public lands. Emerger Strategies is proud to be a member of The Conservation Alliance and to join 60+ businesses to defend our public lands!
I am lucky to have spent many days and weeks camping, hiking, and fly fishing on public lands. In fact, I was fly fishing in public waters when I came to the realization that everything in nature is interconnected. Just as a mayfly, a hungry trout, and a river ecosystem are connected, so are our businesses and the planet, which is why we are proud to join Brands for Public Lands. Public lands provide all Americans with a place to connect deeply with nature, inspire us with their beauty, and have the power to transform us. Public lands are also the foundation of our $1.2 trillion outdoor economy, supporting millions of jobs and countless communities. Our public lands are our legacy, and they are not for sale!
“The businesses who have joined Brands for Public Lands know that our nation’s natural resources are invaluable, not for extracting what lies deep beneath their surface, but for the vitality they provide to so many of us in their protected state. Threats to public lands are threats to the natural and cultural resources they protect, the millions of jobs and thousands of businesses they support, and the myriad communities they sustain,” said Paul Hendricks, Executive Director of The Conservation Alliance. “Together, our coalition of businesses can demonstrate why public lands matter for our communities and our economy.”

Take Action
There are several ways to take action to defend our public lands, and here is a list to get you started:
- One-on-One: most effective is one-on-one meetings with your elected officials
- Phone Calls: Next, is picking up the phone to let your elected officials know to keep public lands in public hands
- Petitions & Emails: Lastly, you can contact your elected officials through petitions and emails. Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership has a petition going, and Backcountry Hunters & Anglers has an email you can send to your elected officials.
